So I bought Madden 2007 yesterday and played an exhibition game last night. Forgot to switch the game level up to the All-Pro or All-Madden (whatever they call it), and ended up putting up 50 points on the Colts in just the 1st half. Shaun Alexander busted out a 59-yard TD run on my 3rd play. MattHass was 9-11 for 200+ yards and 2 TDs. Trufant had 2 INTs returned for TDs. It was nuts. Need to crank up the difficulty level for the next game.
Meanwhile, DJ Gallo has a funny look at the game’s player ratings on ESPN.com, with a nice dig at the Seahawks:
“…putting a punter on the cover of a video game would be awesome. It would be almost ironic and campy. Kind of like how putting a Seattle Seahawks player on the cover of a video game would have seemed three or four years ago.”|

This is priceless. One of the recent roster updates for the online version had a little mistake — very little! NYJets lineman Michael King was only 7 inches tall – ha! And CNET has a couple hysterical pictures you just have to see.
Too funny!
|Another in a semi-regular look at what the gang is saying “out there”…
In his recap of today’s win over the Mets, Jeff at Lookout Landing introduces us to the “Matt Thornton Death Spiral.” Hysterical! And some good non-Thornton analysis to boot.
USS Mariner notes that Boone has been benched, and asks Does anyone think he’ll still be with the M’s after the AS break? (Yes. But not after the trade deadline.)
|(Another in a semi-regular check of what’s being said by Seattle sports fans elsewhere…….)
You really have to read the “23-31″ post from earlier today at Lookout Landing. Mind you, it has one of those “Win Expectancy” chart/photo album hybrids that they love to post, and which I don’t quite understand and don’t have time to figure it out. But you can skip past that if you want and look for the two paragraph tour-de-force that begins with “Joel Pineiro inadvertently beaned Jorge Cantu….” about halfway down the post. Absolutely hysterical…….
Meanwhile, over at Mariner Optimist, the MO is (optimistically, natch) suggesting Bucky Jacobsen might be back by the All-Star Break, but didn’t I hear that he’s a candidate to miss the entire season? Looks like the person commenting there heard it, too.
In football land, I’ve finally gotten around to adding a link to the very welcome TNT Seahawks blog which is being steered by the very young-looking Mike Sando. Very.
Also added a link to a new Hawks blog, Seahawks Fan in Bronco Land. Great to see more Hawks blogs, as I believe we and The 12th Man were the only ones going for a while there.
And lastly, SupersonicSoul is doing a fine job keeping up with the Sonics’ off-season issues, including the free agent situation and even some thoughts on the upcoming draft. Well worth the read.
|He’ll always be one of my favorite Mariners, and you have to respect and admire his community involvement and charity work. But I couldn’t resist when I found this site:
|Another in our efforts to be more active in pointing out what else is going on around the PNW (I hate this next word) blogosphere….
Jeff at Lookout Landing has a funny Guide to Spring Training Quotes and Testimonials. My favorite:
What They Say:
“Carlos Baerga had an enthusiasm that was infectious. I see that same enthusiasm and exuberance in Olivo. Their work ethic is very similar.” -Mike Hargrove, on Miguel OlivoWhat They Mean:
“Miguel strikes me as a guy who’ll play hard until he gets his first big contract, at which point he’ll stop caring and watch his career go up in smoke.”
BlazerTalk has some good stuff about the recent firing of Maurice Cheeks — “One thing is for sure, if you are a coach in Portland, don’t expect to be the one actually coaching.” Well said.
And lastly, Supersonicsoul poses a good question: Why isn’t Ray Allen even getting a sniff as MVP material?
